Mechanical Properties of Aluminum Alloy Cables
1. Elongation of Aluminum Alloy Cables
Elongation is an important index of mechanical properties of conductors, and an important indicator of the quality of products and the ability to withstand external forces. It is also an important index to test the mechanical properties of cable conductors. After annealing, the elongation of aluminium alloy cables can reach 30%, while that of copper cables is 25%, and that of ordinary aluminium poles is 15%. It is an important index to replace aluminium core cables and copper cables.
2. Flexibility of Aluminum Alloy Cables
Torsion test: Mainly test the toughness of metal wires. The better the toughness, the more times the metal wires can withstand the torsion. An important disadvantage of ordinary aluminium wire is its high brittleness. As long as the conductor is twisted at a certain angle several times during installation, cracks will occur, and cracks will heat and corrode, which is an important cause of fire. Aluminum alloy cable, because of its good toughness, will not produce cracks, in the installation of security risks reduced.
3. Bending Performance of Aluminum Alloy Cables
Bending test: Mainly test the bending resistance of metals. Material with uneven or brittle material has poor bending resistance.
According to GB/T12706, the bending radius of copper cable is 10-20 times the diameter of cable, and the bending radius of aluminum alloy cable is 7 times the diameter of cable. The use of aluminum alloy cable can reduce the layout space, make it easier to lay and reduce the installation cost.
4. Anti-elastic Properties of Aluminum Alloy Cables
Practice has proved that the rebound angle of aluminium alloy cable is 60% of that of copper cable after 90 degrees bending of copper cable and aluminium alloy cable at room temperature. Aluminum alloy cable has no memory, so the rebound performance is better than copper core cable. In the installation process, the terminal connection joint is easy to be pressed to increase its tightness and improve the stability of the connection.
