Safety Performance of Aluminum Alloy Cable
1. Historical Practice
Aluminum alloy cable has been developed and used in the United States for 43 years since 1968. The product has been widely used, and the market share of North American countries has reached 80%. After 43 years of practice, it has been proved that the use of aluminium alloy cables has never occurred any failure and is safe.
2. Testing and certification
Aluminum alloy cables have passed UL in the United States, UL in Canada, SAI GLOBAI in Australia, and China National Cable and Wire Inspection Center, Wuhan High Voltage Research Institute of State Grid, and National Fire-proof Building Materials Quality Supervision and Inspection Center. Aluminum alloy conductors meet the CSA standard C22.2, No. 38. The requirements for ACM alloy conductors, the latest editions of GB12706.1-2008 and IEC 60502.1, and UL standards for AA8000 series are also included.
3. Composition and Function of Aluminum Alloys
_The electrical conductivity and connection performance of aluminium alloy conductor are greatly improved by adding rare earth and iron, especially when the conductor is annealed, the addition of iron produces high strength creep resistance. When the current is overloaded, iron plays a continuous connecting role, so that the aluminium alloy conductor will not creep.
_Creep is very harmful to the cable. If the cable creeps, its contact point is not tightly pressed, the contact resistance increases rapidly due to the decrease of pressure, and the joint is overheated after the current flows. If the cable is not repaired regularly, there will be potential safety hazards. It is very important to solve the cable creep problem.
Creep: Metals under the action of temperature, external force and self-weight will slowly produce permanent deformation that can not be restored over time. This phenomenon is creep.
4, flame retardancy
Flame-retardant silane cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) is used as insulation material for aluminium alloy cable, and self-locking armor structure is adopted in the process. Its heat dissipation performance is far superior to that of PVC sheath. It can quickly dissipate heat. After the flame disappears, the flame can quickly extinguish without deferring other materials. Its flame-retardant performance is excellent. New materials and processes are used for aluminium alloy cables to ensure their safer use.
